APT Satellite has signed a five-year contract with the Qinghai Tibetan Channel which will be broadcasted via APSTAR VI with effect from 20 October 2005 . As for the five-year contract signed with Qinghai Satellite TV, the broadcast of the channel will be moved from another company's satellite to APSTAR VI starting from April 2006.
The contracts with Central Radio Channel 40 and Shanghai Oriental Satellite TV pertain to migration plans which have been approved by China 's authorities concerned. The two channels are currently test-broadcasted and parallel-transmitted by APSTAR VI's transponders, and are expected to complete the migration by the end of 2005 or the beginning of 2006.
Mr Ni said, "APSTAR VI has a strong neighbourhood effect owing to the presence of CCTV and other renowned Chinese broadcasters and will become one of the most popular multi-lingual and multi-cultural satellite platforms in the Asia Pacific Region."
Apart from new customers from the PRC, the Company has also signed up two Indonesian telecommunication customers including PT Telkom, increasing the use of C-band transponders of APSTAR VI and further expanding the Company's sales for the overseas market.
