ChinaSat increased its stake in APT Satellite

The Board has been informed today by ChinaSat that on 30th November, 1999 it acquired one-seventh interest in APT International (the "Acquisition") from CLTC, which was one of the seven shareholders of APT International prior to the Acquisition. APT International is currently holding 51% of the issued share capital of the Company. Upon completion of the Acquisition, ChinaSat increased its shareholding in APT International from one-seventh interest to two-seventh interest and CLTC no longer has any shareholding in APT International. Currently, there is no change in the composition of the Board.

ChinaSat is a PRC state-owned enterprise under the supervision of the Ministry of Information Industry of the People's Republic of China ("PRC") and also one of the original seven shareholders of APT International prior to the Acquisition.

The Board believes that the change in the shareholding of APT International as a result of the Acquisition will not affect the operations of the Company. The Board considers that the increase of ChinaSat's interest in the Company will help reinforce the Company's connection and foothold in the PRC market, further expanding the Company's reach in broadcasting and telecommunication sectors in the PRC.
